It all started when…

Rick began capturing rural but mostly urban landscapes. His journalistic approach and love of shooting in natural light was influenced by the work of Walker Evans, Berenice Abbott and Eugene Atget. "My parents were always involved in the art world and my mother is a painter and sculptor but I could never draw.

When I first saw Atget's images at the Met in NYC as a kid, I had an immediate connection and picked up the camera and began shooting".

Professionally, Rick first started working for Michael Lang's artist management company, Better Music, in Manhattan. Among the many talented people he had an opportunity to work with, it was there he met famed music photographer Henry Diltz. "When I saw Henry shoot one of Joe Cocker's concerts, I thought he had the greatest job in the world". Rick soon began working as a tour manager, tour producer and event producer for corporate clients working for several NY based entertainment marketing agencies. Finally photography came calling and Rick took a chance to become a full time event photographer. He soon got the opportunity to work with Legendary Concert Promoter John Scher and his company, Metropolitan Entertainment as the House Photographer covering all the concerts promoted in NYC.

This website is dedicated to Rick’s work and here he also created Rockin’ & Rollin’ Imagery to market his vast catalog of Music Photography for music lovers everywhere!
